Running is a great way to get in shape, however to some, it is much more than exercise. Tip 1: Get More Than One Good Night’s Rest
Pre-race nerves are bound to happen, even to the most experienced of runners. That is why it is very important to try and get more than one good night’s rest before the race. Ideally, you will want to get your full eight hours for night’s in a row, but the sooner you begin, the better. Also, try to keep calm the day before by not doing anything too stressful.
Tip 2: Eat Something Before
You might be too nervous to eat before the race, but that will not be doing your body any favors. Go ahead and have some fruit, oatmeal or an energy bar. The key is to find something that not only provides energy for the event, but that it is also easily digestible.
Tip 3: Stay Hydrated
Not having enough water or fluids in your system is a perfect way to hit the wall early on in the race. If you want to keep from passing out, make sure you drink some water or a sports drink to get those electrolytes in your body. If coffee is part of your morning routine, you can also have a little bit as well along with the water.
Tip 4: Warm Ups
Don’t just got the race without doing some stretches or a quick light job as a warm up. Your body will thank you.
